Whether  you are new to UK birding or a seasoned regular, it would be really useful to us if you could provide us with an idea of what species you would like to see, or habitat you would like to visit and ideally a UK checklist of what British birds you have already seen. We can then customise your trip so that you get the most out of it.

Bird Ringing (Banding)

During some trips, especially at weekends in the spring, summer and autumn, it may be possible to see birds in the hand. This is part of the national ringing programme which studies the population dynamics and migration strategies of the UK’s birds. The ringing is carried out by trained ringers under licenses issued by the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) on behalf of the Government.

As well as providing a close-up and personal view of some of Britain’s more secretive birds it also offers ample photographic opportunities - but we’ll leave it to your conscience whether or not you tick it!

However, if you would rather not see birds in the hand for whatever reason, please let us know and we will avoid sites where we know that ringing is taking place during your trip.
