West London Birding - Client's Comments

Below are what client’s have had to say about West London Birding Trips:

I spent a fantastic day of early spring birding with Bill on April 6. This was my second time birding with Bill. We visited a number of great spots including Wilstone Reservoir, Ivinghoe Beacon, Pegsdon Hills and Farmoor Reservoir. I'm an expert birder in North America but much less so in England so Bill knowledge of the local birds, habitats and his superb birding-by-ear skills made my trip productive and educational. I saw several life birds as well as some local rarities (including a flyover by an Osprey at Marsworth Reservoir). I can't wait to get back over the pond for more birding with Bill

It was a great pleasure for me, who come from far east Japan, to be able to bird at Minsmere with West London Birding. I was very happy to observe Avocets, Great Bitterns and Marsh Harriers. Thanks, Bill Haines of WLB.

Thanks again Bill. The trip to Minsmere was one of the highlights of my visit to the UK and I will certainly recommend West London Birding to people I know heading to the UK.

We both thoroughly enjoyed our birding day with you, and would definitely love to do another outing in the future when we have a trip that includes a weekend in London. We both had a lot of fun, and at the same time felt we learned a huge amount.  It was very nice to be with someone so knowledgeable, and many thanks for going out of your way to give us an excellent day of birding and at such short notice.

We hired Bill for a day to take us out of the city for a bit of birding, and had a spectacular day. He was prompt, courteous, friendly, very knowledgeable, and felt rather like we were birding with an old friend. I simply cannot say enough good things about our day, and would be very comfortable recommending Bill to anyone looking for a good guide in the area. Whether it be targeted birding for a few select species, a few days to blanket an area, or just for a few hours in-between flights or meetings, Bill is your man!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our two days of birding with Bill on Norfolk coast. It was great to have Bill pick us up and drop us off at our London Hotel as it saved us from having to drive in the very busy city center. We have a chance to bird some of the most famous locations in Norfolk including Cley Marshes. Bill didn't have any trouble identifying the birds we encountered and was always helpful providing tips on identification and responding to our many questions. He also took care of all of the related travel plans including picking out a very nice, reasonably priced, historic inn located close to the major birding sites. I highly recommend birding with Bill and visiting the Norfolk coast.                                                                                                  L&M-KE, California, USA

I really enjoyed my day out with Bill. He is an incredible birder and was able to answer all my questions regarding species identification and natural history. He knew that I had very little time during my London vacation for birding and helped me to maximize the number of new species seen by taking me to the bird-rich Norfolk area. He emailed me often before the trip to make sure of the itinerary and target species. Bill even gave me tips for species in other London parks to try for during the rest of my London stay! He worked very hard to get me almost 50 new life birds, it was an amazing birding trip in Britain!

We very much enjoyed our half-day of birding with Bill Haines of West London Birding. He is a skilled and knowledgeable bird guide and was able to answer all of our questions regarding local species and their habitats. We saw over 45 different species in Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens during our late-December half day trip. Bill is also a talented photographer and shared his Flickr photo-stream with us.
We opted to stay in London and bird the local parks and Bill could not have been more accommodating. He met us at our hotel and had a great plan to maximize our tine. He also provided tips on other birding areas in and around London for the rest of our stay.
The personalized checklist that he provided at the end of the trip was much appreciated.
We highly recommend Bill for birders of all skill and experience levels and will definitely hire him whenever we return to the UK.

Fantastic tour! We only had a short time to spend in London in transit to Scotland and were hoping to see some of the southern UK birds not in Scotland as well other birds as this was our first trip to Europe. We arrived at Heathrow shortly after noon on May 9 and arranged for a half-day tour. Bill met us at the airport which was a huge relief as we didn't have to worry about transit to our hotel from Heathrow before our tour. Bill took us to the London Wetland Centre which was loaded with birds and just awesome. Even though the weather was not great for birding (overcast and windy), in just over a couple hours we saw nearly 50 species of birds of which most were lifers. Bill is an outstanding birder and knew the best places for the birds, could ID them by call and song, etc. He carried a scope which was very handy for the waterbirds and waterfowl at a distance. As an added bonus, we wanted to see some of the London "tourist spots" but didn't have time to take any of the standard tours. Bill very graciously took on the London traffic to show us some of the London highlights such as Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, and Big Ben after our birding tour. I would highly recommend Bill if you would like to have a guided birding tour of the London area. I have used many professional bird guides over the years and Bill is definitely at the top of the charts!
